Buddhist Tour of Andhra - 3

ay 01 Arrival into Hyderabad, check into hotel and visit Buddhist Gallery in the state, Museum and sightseeing of Hyderabad. Overnight stay at hotel in Hyderabad.

ay 02 Drive to Nagarjuna Sagar, check into hotel after lunch break. Visit Nagarjuna Konda Vihara, Mahastupa and Museum by boat (boat departure 13.30) and back to hotel. Overnight Nagarjuna Sagar (155 kms one way from Hyderabad).

ay 03 Morning early breakfast and visit to Nelakondapally Stupa near Kodad 125 kms from Nagarjuna Sagar. Afternoon lunch at local restaurant. Later sightseeing of Jaggayapeta Stupa (15meters height hill) and proceed to Vijayawada 80 kms from Jaggayapeta. Overnight stay at Vijayawada.

ay 04 After breakfast visit to Amaravathi Museum and Stupa 70 kms from Vijayawada, lunch at Guntur. In the Evening sightseeing of Chandavaram Stupa (70 kms from Amaravathi) and back to Vijayawada. Overnight stay at Vijayawada. (70 kms from Chandavaram.

ay 05 Early breakfast with packed lunch and proceed to Guntapalli Caves and Stupa, a 50 meter high hill (120 kms one way). Later proceed to Rajahmundry. Overnight stay over there. (200 kms)

ay 06 Early breakfast with packed lunch from the hotel and visit Shankaram Caves and Stupa 150 kms from Rajamundry. After lunch proceed to Vishakapatnam. Overnight stay at Vishakapatnam. (50 kms from Shankaram).

ay 07 After breakfast visit of Bavikonda Stupa and Vihara on a hill (1 ½ km walk from the road). After lunch visit of Totlakonda (200 meters high hill). Overnight stay at Vishakapatnam.

ay 08 After breakfast visit of Shalihundam Stupa and Vihara on a hill of 50 meters height (150 kms from Vishakapatnam).

ay 09 Check out from the hotel and departure transfer to airport/ railway station.

Options of visit of Shalihundam

1. Excursion trip to Shalihundam, 150 kms one way from Vishakapatnam with packed lunch and back to Vishakapatnam, to catch late night train to Bhubaneshwar to visit more Buddhist sites in Orissa.

2. Visit of Shalihundam with packed lunch and proceed to Gopalpur on Sea. Overnight at Shalihundam and then proceed to Bhubaneshwar.

3. Visit of Shalihundam with packed lunch and overnight stay in 2 star hotel in Srikakulam and catch next day early morning train to Bhubaneshwar.

4. Visit to Shalihundam with packed lunch and back to Vishakapatnam and next day fly by air to Bhubaneshwar or Kolkatta.

Note: At Nelakondapalli and Shankaram big buses will not go upto the sight so we have to use local transport like three-wheeler.
