Dhulikatta

It is a small village situated on the right bank of Hussainimiya Vagu about 10 kms from Peddabankur a nearby non-monastic complex in Karimnagar district. Probably it is one of 30 walled cities mentioned by Megasthanes. Excavations, brought to light brick built remains of gateways, Mahastupa, residential houses, wells, punch-marked coins, Roman and Satavahana coins and seals datable from 2nd Century BC to 2nd Century AD. The dome of the Stupa was decorated with forty seven easing slabs. In them Buddha was represented symbolically through Chatra, Buddhapada, Charmachakra Stupa etc. Three Brahmi label inscriptions have been noticed, on two ayaka slabs and one on ivory seal at the site.
